About The Facility
This peaceful and picturesque 15 stall, 20 acre Eventing facility in NJ is set up to be the AA's home away from home. With an indoor and outdoor arena, ample individual turnout, a full jump course, and lots of "creature comforts" this facility is one to call home! Currently the farm is home to 6 lesson horses, a handful of boarders, and some of the owner's personal sale & competition prospects. This farm prides itself on a family style atmosphere, and is home to a variety of students and boarders of all experience levels.
As this is a facility which caters primarily to working adults, hours can be a bit longer than some programs. Tuesday-Friday the barn is open 7am-8pm, though several hours are allotted in the middle of the day for lunch/breaks. No lessons are taught on Mondays, and on weekends the barn closes earlier as well.
Job Description
Seeking an experienced and mature individual to act as Barn Manager in this laid back Eventing facility. The ideal candidate will have an interest in doing a little bit of everything in this position, but should understand that oversight of the care and well being of the horses is their primary concern. Ability to ride both school horses and young prospects, teach lessons on the flat or through about 2'6", and assist with social media/sales advertisement is a potential with this role. The individual in this role should feel comfortable in a leadership position over the other staff members, and be willing to educate boarders/clients as needed. The Barn Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all of the necessary operations of the farm are carried out, and will be the primary individual responsible for medications, emergency situations, and ordering feed/supplies. This individual will be second in command to the owner who is generally on site 6-7 days per week, and should feel comfortable collaborating with her to ensure her standards are upheld.
Job Requirements
Management
- Ensuring quality care of the horses at all times
- Collaborating with staff members to ensure daily operations flow smoothly
- Assisting in designing schedule for exercise of horses and responsibilities of staff members
- Ensuring the facility is kept to show-barn presentation standards
- Night check on rotation with 2 other individuals
- Basic chore work as needed in case of staff emergency - not a general responsibility of manager
- Maintaining records of equine medication and care
- Communication with boarders regarding equine emergencies
- Ensuring arena is drug daily
- Ordering feed/supplies as needed with weekly feed order
- Correspondence and scheduling of vet & farrier as needed

Riding:
Ideal candidate should be comfortable flatting horses, and potentially schooling up to about 2'6" over fences. Riding is not a daily responsibility of this position, but will be available in the event of owner's absence, or need to tune up the school horses. Ability to assist with owner's sale horses is available but not required. Youngest horses on the property are 5yo and all cater to the "steady eddie" mindset.

Teaching
Ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching through training level dressage (basic w/t/c & beginning lateral work) and 2'6" jumping. Ability to teach a couple students on a regular basis is available and preferred but not required. Some basic education on the ground of clients and working students will be required as needed to ensure safety of horses and team members.

Extras!
- Social media management - for someone skilled in the workings of social media, the ability to run the farm's accounts is present
- Event planning - fun annual events occur for boarders and clients that this person would be able to help plan and execute

Must always believe that the horses come first!
