Job Description
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Trainer/Rider Responsibilities:
• Ride & train the young horses
• Assist the vet with the treatment of the horses
• Continue to develop and maintain the young horse training program
• Uphold the current high standard of fitness program for all horses
• Riding & implementing rehab program for all horses
• Work closely with Asst Equine Manager on training plans for all horses, e.g., walks and trots, etc.
• Perform therapeutic treatments
• Lunge horses
• Groom and saddle horses as needed
• Administer IM, SubQ, and IV shots
• Communicate with outside show riders on horse’s performance and report results
Farm/Livestock Responsibilities:
• Vaccinating livestock as necessary
• Pasture movement
• Hauls horses
• Contribute to the posting of relevant activities on social media.
• Assist with the riding plan for the intern program
Job Requirements
• At least 5-8 years of experience and knowledge working with performance and young horses
• Ability to lunge horses with and without equipment.
• Basic knowledge of groundwork
• Basic knowledge of veterinary care
• Experience in horse show schedules, process, and organizations
• Knowledge of safe work practices around horses and other livestock
• Cattle and pasture experience (Holistic Management knowledge a plus)
• Experience in monitoring animal appearance/behavior and communicating any information to superiors
• Must have proof of authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older and drug-free
• Clear background check
• Strong communication skills
• Work effectively with minimal supervision, self-motivated and self-starter
• Physical requirements
o Ability to work outdoors, on uneven, slippery terrain in varying weather conditions with dust and allergens
o Ability to twist, bend, kneel, climb, lift 100 lbs., and use hand tools as necessary
o Ability to lift 75-100 lbs.
• Safely operate ATV
• Strong commitment to teamwork
