This is a picturesque small, private, family owned Hunter/Jumper facility that splits its time between New Paltz, NY and Wellington FL. With only 8-10 horses in training, this farm focuses on individualized, top quality care! They are located in New Paltz, NY until Late November/Earl December, and then in Wellington, FL until the 2nd week of April.
They are seeking a Flat Rider and Groom to become a long-term addition to their facility. They want someone who is experienced and confident in the saddle, with the ability to properly warm up their horses before jumping, both at home and on the show grounds. This person will be well versed in the A Circuit Hunter/Jumper industry. This person will work well in a team environment, as they have 2 other full time grooms on site, and understand that the horses care will always come above all else. This person will be willing to assist in all aspects of equine care.
Morning feeding responsibilities are shared amongst the 3 employees. Feeding begins at 6:30am. The general day at home runs from 7:30am until 5:30pm with a 1.5 hour lunch break. Riding begins around 8:30am and this candidate must be willing to assist with tacking/untacking horses in addition to riding their scheduled list. Show hours will vary. Evening hay is given at 4:30, grain is given at 5:00pm.
This is a 6 day per week position
Salary is 1,200/week. Dogs are welcome as long as they are chicken and other dog friendly, and will not bark if left unattended. Unfortunately, there is not room for a personal horse. Lunches will be provided at shows.
This position will offer Private housing in an apartment in NY, and a small, private camper in FL.
