About The Facility
Private, family farm located on 150 acres in Dryden, MI. Facility boasts a small dressage training barn, with 3 horses currently residing there.
Job Description
This person will have impeccable attention to detail and horse sense. They will be responsible for the care of 3 dressage horses, two of which are currently retired. Basic care is required for all 3 horses, including feeding, turnout, cleaning stalls, grooming, bathing, clipping, and ensuring overall wellbeing. Tacking up and untacking for the owner as needed will be required.
The ideal candidate will be organized, familiar with the care of English show horses, attentive to all needs, and have an upbeat personality. This person will be expected to know how to recognize signs of distress in the horses, and when to call the vet. This person will be responsible for scheduling vet and farrier, ordering hay, grain, and shavings, and assisting in any way that is needed with the care of the horses.
Overall, the barn job is roughly a 20hr/week position. The remaining 20 hours will be spent mowing, landscaping, and assisting as needed with the operations of the farm. This person will get along well with the Farm Manager and be willing to take direction as needed from both of the owners of the facility.
This person will understand that the horses needs come first and foremost above all else. This is a 40hr per week position. Should this person need to leave for any length of time, they will be expected to find a suitable fill-in person to care for the horses.
