About The Facility
EJD is based out of Blume Farm, a breeder of Hanoverian horses. Located on 22 acres in central NC, EJD has an 8-stall barn for training horses, regulation size outdoor arena, 150'x50' covered arena, and access to trails for hacking out. Horses get daily turnout (private or with a buddy) in grass fields.
Job Description
Emme Johnston Dressage is hiring student apprentices!

This job is ideal for the aspiring equine professional to learn all aspects of working in the sport horse industry. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience with horse and stable care and management, as well as have opportunities for riding instruction, attend educational events, travel for competitions, and learn about the business side of the industry.

EJD is a full-service dressage training facility, based in Silk Hope, NC, that maintains an active competition schedule. With 10 horses in full training, there is ample opportunity for an apprentice to gain knowledge of veterinary care, nutrition, and barn management. We use a variety of modalities to keep the horses feeling their best, such as chiropractic work, massage, laser, and PEMF. EJD operates out of Blume Farm, a breeder of Hanoverian horses, so there is also opportunity for someone interested in learning about sport horse breeding.

This profession requires someone with passion who is willing to work hard every day. For the self-motivated individual, EJD offers mentoring and opportunity to explore different aspects of the industry. While Emme’s focus is on riding and training, this position could also be for someone interested in barn management, professional grooming, etc.

Emme is a USDF Certified Instructor and USDF Silver Medalist. She regularly qualifies horses for Regional and National Championships and is active in the NC dressage community. She has trained with Eliza Sydnor Romm, Cindy Sydnor, Jennifer Baumert, and JJ Tate. Learn more about her program at
