About The Facility
We are an Appaloosa breeding, training, and boarding facility.
Job Description
Looking for a responsible, hardworking, reliable, and experienced individual to train for and manage an Appaloosa farm of 50+ horses. Must be able to start young stock, oversee the daily operation of the farm and farm help, and manage the health and well being of all horses on the farm. Horses include farm raised young stock, brood mares, stallions, boarders, seasoned horses for show, lessons, and leasing. Compensation includes private housing on the farm (all utilities included), board for one horse, in addition to weekly salary. Six days a week, with major holidays off. Looking to fill this position in early summer.

Monday - Saturday 8-5 with an hour lunch break

Daily Responsibility :
Work and train each horse at their varied levels; English and western
Assure all horses are healthy
Deal with situations as they arise
Keep barns organized

Mandatory skills:
Ability to read/evaluate horses
Administering oral medications
Applying standing wraps
Wound and basic first aid care
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds
Self starter
Able to assess basic lameness
Able to assess a sick horse
Able to communicate with farm owners and boarders
Start young stock
Maintain the broke horses

Skills needed, that can be taught:
Administering IM, and IV medications
Drive a truck and trailer
Broodmare care and foal handling

Occasional Duties and Responsibilities:
Fill mix grain bins
Fill hay feeder in paddock
Hold young horses for farrier
Maintain wire fencing
Minor farm repairs
Keep tack, feed, and medication/ blanket rooms clean and organized
Water and drag indoor arena with ATV
Care for sick and injured horses, into overnight and after hours if needed
Train new farm help
Step in as needed to insure the farm is running safely and smoothly (i.e. if someone is sick or hurt)
Show horses for sale appointments

Compensation:
Private on farm housing (includes utilities, internet, cable, and washer & dryer)
$400 per week cash
5% commission on horses sold that you have put time into
Major holidays off
Workman’s compensation
Opportunity to bring own horse can be discussed
½ of all lessons taught on your own time (other ½ to farm owner to cover insurance)
