About The Facility
Camp Wabasso is an overnight Girl Scout camp that runs one-week and two-week summer camp programs. This lakefront property features a dense pine forest, waterfront, and large playing field. Camp Wabasso specializes in horseback riding and theater. Classic camp activities include swimming, boating, archery, and crafts—including woodworking!
Job Description
To work with a group of girls to plan and implement a safe, individualized, and well-rounded camp program. To teach girls of various ages and abilities horseback riding.
Job Requirements
1. Lives and works as a team with other unit staff in the leadership responsibilities of the unit such as caring for the children, making schedules, assisting with cookouts, and leading program activities.
2. Teaches riding lessons to girls of various levels and ages. Classes include both riding skills, general horse care, and inclement weather lesson plans.
3. Assists with riding and barn responsibilities such as equipment maintenance, horse care, riding lessons and other riding logistics as scheduled with the Riding Director.
4. Enforces and follows the horseback riding safety standards.
5. Participates in the general camp program when requested.
6. Maintains good public relations and healthy communication with campers, their parents, fellow staff, and the community in person and online.
7. Participates in pre-camp training, and assists in the opening and closing of camp.
8. Maintains accurate, up to date records, submits reports and evaluations on time as requested.
9. Responsible for the health and safety of all campers through modeling proper behaviors and practices, and reporting of accidents or issues beyond ones skill level to the appropriate staff person.
10. Assists in camp cleanliness, cares for camp property and equipment, asks for materials when needed, and reports any camp repairs in a timely manner.
11. All other duties as assigned.
