Job Description
Frost Valley YMCA’s Equestrian Team is looking for a Barn Manager to oversee our Main Camp Barn (May-October with potential to stay on longer). The Main Barn Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the main camp horse barn. This person will be responsible for the daily care and supervision of 30 horses and 2-3 seasonal instructors. They will ensure the barn runs smoothly and uphold the highest safety standards. This person will supervise mounted lessons and trail rides, give feedback to instructors, watch horses and make changes as needed. The Main Barn Manager will ensure that horses are cared for to the highest standard, including checking pastures, water and food sources. The successful candidate is detail oriented, able to multitask, able to supervise others effectively, and truly enjoys working with horses and children. The Main Barn Manager will be a certified Instructor (can be completed upon hire).
Job Requirements
*Must be 21 years of age or older
*Must possess a clean, valid U.S. driver’s license for the length of the position. Driving record must be approved prior to official acceptance.
*Hold equestrian certification from a nationally recognized equestrian organization, as well as First Aid/CPR certification (certifications can be earned upon hire at Frost Valley)
*Experience working with children ages 7-16
*Experience working in the equestrian Industry, including teaching lessons and caring for horses
*Able to coach and communicate in a positive way to instructors, counselors as well as full time support staff.
*Ability to be flexible to sudden changes in schedule, staff and campers.
*Be a strong, positive role model for campers and fellow staff members
*Be very detail oriented and safety conscious.
*Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up to 10 miles a day
