About The Facility
Willow Creek Ranch is a private guest ranch, located near Mt Shasta, CA, which makes it home to 16 beautiful Quarter Horses and two Percheron Draft Teams. The Ranch is situated on 4,500 wooded acres, equipped with an indoor and outdoor riding arena, miles of trails and gorgeous views of Mt. Shasta at every turn. Our focus is primarily Western riding and trail rides for the owners and their guests.

The WCR Horse Manager is in charge of overseeing the Ranch Horse Program. This includes all aspects of horse care, stable and pasture maintenance, horse crew staff management and guest experiences at the ranch.

Job Description
Our Professional Horse Manager Position Job Description Includes:

Must have previous Horse Crew Management experience.
You must be a good rider with proven abilities & a good reputation in the equine industry.
You must have impeccable references.
Have a love for teaching Western riding is mandatory. English & Driving experience is a plus.
Must be a confident horseman, a good leader, hard worker and fun loving!

Horse Care:
Must be able to train & oversee the care & exercise program of approx. 16 horses.
Must be knowledgeable in identifying early signs of equine health distress.
Must have knowledge and experience in basic health care of horses.
Must be available for occasional emergency situations.
Must have experience with trailering horses.
Must have arena, barn and tack maintenance experience.

Guest Services:
Experience with organizing and executing trail rides.
Must be able to assess and identify rider experience, needs and support prior to mounting our horses.
Must be engaging and fun loving when interacting with guests of all ages.

Management of our Horse Crew Team Members:
Must be organized and detail oriented; quality and precision-focused.
Possess an effective, friendly professional communication style.
Must have knowledge and ability to train, assist and supervise Riders.
Must have experience with coordinating schedules.
Must be calm under pressure.
Job Requirements
Specific Duties of the Horse Manager (but not limited to):

Provide superior customer service to all guests, staff, volunteers and vendors.
Must be able to help Riders bring horses along.
Organize, maintain inventory and order supplies weekly or monthly depending on need.
Manage and train employees for horse care, feeding, pasture and tack maintenance.
Manage and schedule veterinarian check-ups and/or visits and keeping all health records organized and updated.
Basic equine medical care skills, bandaging, wrapping, medication administration (oral, topical, IM, IV injections).
Maintain cleanliness, appearance and organization of barn, arena, pastures, equipment and ranch vehicles.
Have supplies on hand for guest horse activities; such as painting/braiding and horse games etc.
Have a willingness and ability to learn how to drive teams in a safe manner.
