Job Description
Private Horse Barn seeking Full Time Barn Manager for March 2020
40 hours/6 days/week – one full weekend off/month
A responsible and reliable individual who can be in charge of providing the upmost care and attention in a small family style 6 stall barn. Must have strong communication skills, knowledge of basic medical horse treatment, equine nutritional needs and horsemanship/behavior. Good work ethic, honest and independent as well as a team player. Teachable attitude and willingness to be flexible.
Essential skills needed are quality of horse care, management of personnel, cleanliness and overall organization, this position shares the responsibilities of feeding, stall cleaning with all other employees.
If qualified, giving riding lessons to the younger generation.
Please do not apply if you are only able to commit to one year. Applicant must have management experience and excellent equine handling skills.

Duties to include:
Feed horses/morning or afternoon/evening shift; cleaning stalls and barn; turnout
Horse care/grooming/first aid
Schedule and assist vet/farrier/chiropractor appointments
Coordinate various barn upkeep/cleaning projects with other employees and schedule project appointments from outside sources
Coordinate employees scheduling and payroll
Order barn supplies, feed & supplements, hay and shavings
Pay invoices/keep records
Exercise /lunge horses if necessary
Coordinate pasture management for turnout

Preferred: Equipment and trailering experience; good riding

A two bedroom cottage (5 min. from barn property) with adjacent private pasture and barn shed for approximate 4 horses. Can be upgraded to a 3 bedroom cottage close to the barn (without pasture) after satisfactory employment.
