Young horses are started slowly with ground work and light driving, packing while being ponied and light trail riding. Some cattle work is done to prepare horses for western riding disciplines. Where
The Two Penny Ranch comprises over 500 acres of high desert 25 miles northwest of Wickenburg, Az. We raise and train draft cross horses for both riding and driving and run 50 head of Angus cross cattle. We're also the home of Lottie Ponies Livery and Carriage, LLC which provides local hay and carriage rides for parades, weddings, etc. Successful candidates may even find themselves hired as footmen or drivers for larger events.

The Good
Experience with any of the following are a definite plus: draft horses, driving, dressage, farrier work, mechanic, veterinary medicine, CDL.
On site housing with all utilities included. A typical work day is 8 work hours long and five days/week. Pay starts at $20,000/yr., more commiserate with experience.

The Bad
The ranch is located down about 14 miles of miserable washboard road. Pretty much can't use it if it is raining. But then it doesn't rain all that often...

The Ugly
Absolutely no smoking since we are in a desert and the fire department is pretty far off. And, No drinking/No drugs allowed - as this is an equine facility anyone living here pretty much needs to be sharp since horses can decide to do the silliest things at the most inopportune hours!
