Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is a 10,000-acre slice of alluring Ozarks paradise offering hiking, biking, Segway tours, wildlife tram tours, horseback riding, and trout fishing. The vision of Bass Pro Shops founder/CEO Johnny Morris, the property serves as an outdoor playground that inspires visitors to get involved in wildlife conservation. The natural beauty of the park includes towering bluffs, waterfalls, creek beds, handcrafted bridges and wildlife such as American bison, Rocky Mountain elk and white-tailed deer. Dogwood Canyon Nature Park recently received its largest renovation to date, and in 2016 opened a fully restored working gristmill, restaurant, conservation center, and stables facility with a rider’s lounge. Dogwood Canyon is currently seeking a WRANGLER to join the team! This individual will prepare and handle horses and stables for trail rides, occasional chuck wagon cookouts, wagon rides; to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests engaged in Stables activities; and to maintain a clean and healthy environment for the animals.
Essential Functions:
Perform stables duties with a minimum of supervision.
Perform all duties in a safe and enjoyable manner interacting with the Guest(s).
Work within schedule and guidelines set by Stables and Dogwood Canyon Management.
Adhere to all rules and regulations established in Dogwood Canyon standard operation procedure manual.
Must be highly service focused with a desire to engage with guests, with exceptional customer service.
Be knowledgeable about Dogwood Canyon and its history.
Feed, give health care, and saddle trail horses
Drive a carriage or wagon for special occasions
Lead and conduct a safe, enjoyable trail ride for guests.
Perform all stall cleaning duties as required.
Be an experienced rider and able to teach others to ride.
Maintain current information on Stables schedules, activity prices and be able to inform guests.
Be able and willing to work in harmony with all departments and Dogwood Canyon guests.
Assist in keeping Stables areas, tack and livestock as neat and clean as possible.
Be able to lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis and work in hot/cold weather conditions.
Walk/Lead Pony/Horse Rides.
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Provide leadership to stables associates and report to manager.
Provide leadership to stables associates
Demonstrate initiative – ability to think, work, and make decisions to solve concerns based on sound judgment.
Must excel in a fast paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness are a must.
Follow up with stables staff to ensure daily duties are being completed.
Keep manager informed of supply needs
Assist manager in ordering supplies, scheduling staff, and stables services
Must have a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the park and its guests.
Train new wranglers on stables SOP.
