About The Facility
140 acre Egyptian Arabian Breeding Farm, located just Outside Reno, NV and a short drive from Lake Tahoe. 30 horses on property avg., 4-6 foals bred per year, no riding/training/showing required for this position as farm is dedicated to breeding only.
Job Description
Hours Monday-Friday 7am to 5pm with 1-1.5hr lunch break

Duties include helping cycles mares to get in season, Will assist veterinarian in breeding mares, managing mare cycles with vet and stallions for shipping cooled or frozen semen, managing mares and all medical/vaccine care while pregnant, foal watch, birthing foals, ensuring foals are healthy when born, able to spot emergency concerns with mares in foal/during and after foaling and foals with health issues, along side basic health concerns such as lacerations, wounds and colic, able to apply bandages, provide basic grooming duties. Will be responsible for halter breaking and ground manner breaking foals to be handled, lead, tie, etc. Will help other farm staff with feeding and barn/stall cleaning duties on an as needed basis.
Job Requirements
Ability to take TPR, experience with IM and/or IV injections a plus. Bonus qualifications include stallion handling experience, knowledge and/or experience with embryo transfer, ability to drive truck and horse trailer, teach young horses to load and unload safely and have overall experience/affinity for Egyptian Arabian horses!

Foal handling and breaking experience

Working interview required- travel and stay will be paid by employer.
Salary based on experience, in addition to benefits and housing offered at $45,000-60,000 per year.

1 stall, turnout, and hay/grain for 1 horse at no cost, $100/mo. contribution to employee provided health care, 2 weeks paid vacation in off season (Nov-March) with possibility of additional paid time off if working long overtime hours during foaling season. Possibility of inside pet (dog or cat) on a case by case basis, size and breed requirement may be enforced as necessary.
