Job Description
Immediate opening for a full-time Stable Manager to oversee all aspects of our equine program. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and experienced in teaching horsemanship to all ages, assisting in equine therapy, training and managing the care of horses, and barn management.
Job Requirements
Horse Care: Extensive background caring for horses—overseeing feeding, watering, grooming, training, regular veterinary and farrier visits, seasonal management of sickness and injury care, and managing horse care staff. Applicant needs to have trail ride leadership experience and be well versed in working with riders of all levels. Must be proficient in equine grooming, including cleaning sheaths, pulling manes, clipping, sole changing, etc.
Equipment Care: Cleaning, repairing and replacing tack and other gear. Maintaining all equipment on a daily basis to ensure everything is in working order.
Facility Care: Daily care of the barn, including cleaning stalls and bathroom as needed, and sweeping surfaces. Overseeing maintenance of pastures, fencing and trails. Responsible for maintenance of stable and grounds.
Hours: The Stable Manager will coordinate work schedule with other staff to ensure 24/7 coverage, including weekends.
Experience: 5 years of experience is required in:
• Horsemanship: training quarter horses
• Barn Management: tracking inventory of feed, medicine, and tack
• Equine Medication: general equine first-aid and knowledge of medication and uses
Additional requirements:
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to drive a truck and horse trailer
• Valid driver’s license
• Working knowledge of all breeds of horses
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Proficient in driving a tractor, UTVs and ATVs
