About The Facility
Amado Equine is situated on a 91 acre property located in southern Arizona. It is mainly irrigated by a center pivot (64 acres) and 10 acres are irrigated by flood irrigation. We have 2 riding arenas that offer plenty of space for riders, there is a gallop track around the outside of one of the arenas and a hacking and jumping area with hills beside the other arena. The property is fenced so riders can hack around the perimiter. The main board offering is out on pasture 24/7. There are limited dry lots for horses. We run 3 or more schooling shows per year and would like to start offering single day recognized shows (dressage).
Job Description
We are looking for a student/intern to join us for a minimum of 3 months - longer term perferred. Looking for someone with good skills in dressage and jumping that enjoys working with the horses and seeing their progress. Lessons available on our horses. Must be a non-smoker with a strong sense of accountability and take pride in their work with the horses and around the barn. Immediate opening available, as well as accepting applications for January 2019. Preferred minimum riding qualifications: Dressage to 2nd Level or higher, Jumping to 1m or higher. Must be self-starter and have good attention to detail. 6 day week.

Please submit photos and/or video with application. This vacancy is ideal for someone who wants a close contact with horses. We need a dedicated, enthusiastic person to help care for our horses and appreciates spending time with the horses.

* Students work with 1-3 horses per day (this could be on the flat or over fences, ground work, lunging, or learning something new such as: equine bodywork, or trimming hooves)
* Some of the horses have more of a focus on dressage, some need all round schooling so work over fences, and others need to be schooled for lessons. Of course hacking out is essential too in order for all horses to be physically and mentally fit for their work.
* Assist with lessons
* Learn or improve your skills in groundwork from lunging, driving, & jumping online with the horses
* Learn to work a horse around cattle. This may be moving cattle from one pasture to the next, or during one of the big moves from summer pasture to winter pasture where it is an all day cattle drive. If you would like you could learn to rope as well.

Stable work includes: mucking out stalls/corrals; feeding/handling/grooming horses; handling of youngsters. Most horses spend a majority of their time outside - stall duties are minimal.
