About The Facility
Private farm specializing in Endurance and Dressage, spending half the year in South Georgia and half the year in Vermont. Owners live on property and are in the barn and riding daily. The facility has 23-25 horses, 6-10 which are retired at any given time.
Job Description
Duties will include but are not limited to general care of horses such as turning in/out, stall mucking and re-bedding, feeding and watering, preparing feed for next meal time, grooming, clipping, leg wrapping, administering oral and topical medications, tacking/untacking, bathing, turn in/out, blanketing as necessary, managing paddocks, observing horses daily to check for changes in behavior or physical appearance (evidence of bleeding, swelling, wounds, stiffness, lost shoes, scrapes, etc.) loading/unloading hay/grain/tack trunks/trailer etc. before and after shows, handling horses for vet and farrier, keeping track of feed, supplements, and medications to be ordered before running out, general knowledge for treating feet for thrush, rain rot, summer sores, etc.
Job Requirements
• Required to travel with owners and horses from Vermont to South Georgia each year
• Experience with and knowledge in caring for both show horses as well as retired older show horses
• Experience with Warmblood and Arabian bred horses encouraged
• Ability to turn out multiple horses with assistance of a UTV/Gator/Golf Cart
• Monitoring pastures, fencing and other basic farm maintenance duties
• Patience when dealing horses on the farm
• Reliability, honesty and integrity
• Fluent English speaker
• Clean background check
• Clean driving record
• Drug/Alcohol/Smoke free work place compliant
• Competitive pay upon experience
• 6 days per week; 7am – 3:30pm
• Over time and additional pay available
• 1-week paid vacation after 1 year
