About The Facility
Historic Morgan horse breeding farm located in Weybridge, Vermont. A tourism attraction in the summer months, this farm is home to 40 Morgan horses.
Job Description
Oversee the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm’s internship and apprenticeship program in Weybridge, Vermont. Additional responsibilities include providing programmatic coordination and delivery of specialized academic support services (e.g., 4-H programs), and coordinating educational opportunities within the University of Vermont. Advise and train students in all aspects of the equine industry and support the academic mission of the University and the Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences (ASCI).
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences or related field and one to three years of experience in large equine facility operations (> 25 breeding horses) required. Knowledge of equine herd management and training in academic environment required.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse audiences are also required. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, general public and industry to maintain an effective equine program. A demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach students skills about the equine industry is essential. Onsite housing at the Morgan Horse Farm in Weybridge, VT is included as a condition of employment. Must be able to operate farm machinery and lift 50 lbs. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of physical screening and background check.
