Job Description
The Horse Care/Ranch Hand performs daily general ranch hand duties as needed and is responsible for the daily horse and barnyard animals care and well-being, maintenance, and grooming of horses. Manages, monitors and maintains daily records, general health, treating minor injuries, or following Veterinarian's medical instructions on mayor injury care. Maintains current inventory of all horse-related and barnyard animal consumables and supplies and transitions information to other staff on all related duties.

This position is critical to ranch operations and requires quick decision making, adaptability and leadership skills and is responsible for all duties required for horse and barnyard animal care and the tasks that support their care and environment, including but not limited to; cleaning animal enclosures, feeding, medicating, doctoring, handling, moving and bathing horses, handling and moving barnyard animals, grounds maintenance, fence repair and maintenance, operation and maintenance of vehicle and ranch equipment. The position requires knowledge of basic horse heath requirements and conditions such as; de-worming, vaccines, wound treatment, and the ability to recognize conditions that require immediate veterinary care such as colic, choke, acute lameness, etc. Riding of horses is not allowed, although DOE may be considered.

The Horse Care/Ranch Hand must be highly organized and efficient, comply with all organizational policies and procedures, and uphold the highest ethical standards privacy and confidentiality. Must fluently speak, read, and write English, including the ability to effectively communicate, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Reports directly to Owner.

Work hours 40-60 per week; Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM and weekends; flexible schedule as needed. Maintain tobacco, alcohol and drug free environment. Must have a current valid driver's license. Benefits available, pay DOE.
