Job Description
Throughout the spring this position assists in the day to day operations of the Equestrian Center at Frost Valley YMCA and ensures the safe operation of all riding and horse programs. This position will also work with and facilitate the many different groups and retreats at East Valley Ranch. This position will also help with recruitment and retention of campers for all Equestrian Programs. The Equestrian PI may also teach classes for School programs during the spring.

Throughout the summer this position will supervise and care for campers in loco parentis. Overseeing children’s day to day needs and providing safe, fun entertainment and wholesome activities are an essential part of the job. Counselors run programming for campers in a specified age group from the time the children wake up in the morning to the time they go to bed in the evening. During the evening and night, counselors are expected to continue to ensure the safety and emotional well being of the campers, even if it means providing care during the overnight period. The successful candidate truly enjoys working with children of various Frost Valley programs.
Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Experience working in the equestrian industry
- Previous experience working in a camp setting or in the outdoor industry
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
- Be a strong leader and be able to work well with a team of others
- Be able to multi-task and handle pressure well
- Enjoy working with teens, children, families and other staff
- Valid and clean US driver’s license
- Bachelor’s degree or experience in related field preferred
- Certification by a nationally recognized equine organization and First aid and CPR desired. If not, current candidate will be asked to successfully complete courses upon hire.
