About The Facility
Two outdoor arenas, round pen and an indoor arena. We conduct our research on biomechanics in our indoor arena. We have groomed trails on the property. There are 12 stalls in the ‘old barn’, 7 out-building stalls, and 2 stalls in the new barn. Horses are turned out in pastures during the day.
Job Description
Full time job in Paso Robles, California. We are looking for someone who is totally committed in increasing their knowledge about horses. This position is ideal for a person who is studious and detail oriented. The Epona horses are used for demonstration rides and to teach biomechanics. We own 12 horses. Four horses are senior horses and semi-retired (age between 21 and 30 years old). We work the older horses within reason. Five horses are young horses (age between 4 and 8 years old.) Three horses are more advanced (age between 12 and 15 years old.) The horses are Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. Some of our horses were rehabilitation projects. These horses are not for beginners. We do not resell horses. We always look at new rehabilitation projects to further our research. We are looking for individuals with experience in dressage, jumping, working with young horses, etc.
Job Requirements
1. Help train the horses. Ground work, e.g. long lining, work in hand, free running, riding. Minimal grooming duties.
2. Manage horse facility: order hay and other supplies; liaison with ranch hands
3. Help with documenting riding research, such as take notes, pictures and videos.
4. Able to cover one day per week feeding and turn-outs.
