Equine Veterinary Hospital offering primary care, 24 hour emergency and specialty referral services in North Central Florida.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the assigned departments
• Prepares the schedule for veterinary technicians and barn crew to ensure the hospital receives the support needed while ensuring the technicians and barn crew have a reasonable workload.
• Provides written performance evaluations and submits to human resources for approval. Reviews performance evaluation with employees within a prescribed time. Addresses and documents areas requiring correction in employees behavior or performance and refers potential disciplinary problems to human resources.
• May determine priorities and regulate the routine work production.
• Works closely with the trainer to ensure the proper orientation and training of new employees and observe new employees during the probationary period to determine if the employee’s skills are acceptable to the practice.
• Conducts staff meetings routinely with technicians and serves as a communication liaison with doctors
• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting activities involving technicians and other intra or inter departmental staff.
• Responsible for maintaining and performing the highest achievable level of technical competence and work performance.
• Works with the Hospital Operations Manager for the purchase of supplies and equipment required for the staff
• Capable and willing to work alongside staff which will occasionally include working evening shifts to gain a clear and accurate picture of the staffing needs
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong background as an equine veterinary technician or similar role in the equine industry
• Excellent horse handling abilities

• Promotes positive public relations for the hospital.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Proficient in equine medical terminology
• Minimum 5 years working in the equine industry.
• Minimum 2 years management experience
• Experience working with computers, comfortable learning new software
• Basic knowledge of personnel/employment laws
• Advanced certification or training as a veterinarian technician desirable
